The term ‘spoken grammar’ describes items of conversational English uncovered by corpus research but rarely given prominence in teaching materials. After a brief survey of the subject and the issues it raises, I’ll ask participants to identify five spoken grammar items from a series of dialogues, and together we’ll look at ways of teaching them.
